I just watched @sethkingbooks first video and he touched on some really important things. Things for me that, as a writer, really ring true. Writing is a natural extension of reading in my life and I think only something that came from obsessing over books as a kid. And the video says what I’ve always said: I wanted to touch someone with my writing the way so many other books have touched me, and brought me out of some pretty hellish experiences.
It’s important we create and grow and expand the perimeters of who we are as people, as creative minds, as forces of goodness. I have this picture as the background on my laptop because I took it during my first residency. And it reminds me that I’ve given myself permission to create. I think that’s something we should all give ourselves. And give it every day until we can’t anymore.
